The Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s Center for Alcohol and Drug Education Studies and members of the Texas Impaired Driving Task Force (TxIDTF) recognized outstanding individuals and organizations with their inaugural Texas Impaired Driving Safety Awards.
Presented in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and given out at the 2019 Texas Impaired Driving Forum held in Pflugerville, the awards recognize outstanding individuals and organizations in Texas who have made a positive impact on reducing or deterring impaired driving.
Allison Rounsavall, TxDOT Alcohol and Other Drug Countermeasures program manager and co-chairman of the TxIDTF, said that “the implementation of these awards not only showcases the hardworking individuals and organizations that tirelessly work to eliminate impaired driving in Texas, but also encourages others to make the effort to go above and beyond in their own communities by finding new and innovative ways to reduce and prevent impaired driving.”
The TxIDTF selected the following recipients for their outstanding efforts:
Impaired Driving Traffic Safety Champion
- Officer Stacie Brown, Arlington Police Department
Impaired Driving Difference Makers
- Officer Stephen Burres, Irving Police Department
- Texas Department of Public Safety Austin Crime Lab, Toxicology Section
The mission of the Texas Impaired Driving Task Force is to eliminate injury and death caused by impaired driving in Texas.
